and...

I dedicate this poster to a TID

Je t'aime fort, Alexy!

you're never too young for a poster

My parents wouldn't be caught dead with a poster in their home. Luckily, my generation is much more liberal and open-minded about their artwork. I am not among those who believe posters are for angsty teenagers.
Although, I don't think many angsty teenagers have these kinds of posters decorating their walls. Nonetheless, I love them! Brought to you by Seattle Show Posters.
And these are just the posters from their art print section, there's loads more to peruse. Granted, the prints are sometimes repeated, but with some extra detailing, but that wouldn't stop me from being hard-pressed to pick just one.

oh, and one more thing

I want this kitchen, right here, right now. I adore all the white with the pops of colour. It's so refreshing.

No amount of sweltering heat will divert my mind away from that simple truth.

brogues obsessed

Most of my friends and family disapprove of this new-found fancy of mine. But the heart wants what it wants - regardless of how vehemently my Robert despises them.

blast from the past

I found a bunch of old pictures of my parents and their friends from the 70s.
These pictures are my new past time. So, obviously I will be sharing lots of them. As you should all know, I am obsessed with anything from that time and pictures are by far no exception.
Everything just looked more authentic back then. Take this for example.

All it is, is a card for a picture taken in a nightclub in Lebanon in '72. I don't about you, but I'm totally willing to frame it and put it on my wall.
And just for fun, here's the picture inside. I love that they all signed it.

finally

Ask and you will receive.
Following my previous post, here I am with a whole day ahead of me with nothing on the agenda.I love this feeling that I could do pretty whatever I feel like today. That's the beauty of the quiet life, my version of it, anywho. I love all the possibilities that this day has to offer right now.

I could make some hummus, read my book, paint my nails, take a walk or just sit here browsing through all the lovely posts my blogroll has to offer. And to top it all off, the "sun is shining, the weather is sweet".

Even though I did want this day, I still fell like this quote from the very wise philosopher Jagger is still appropriate today.

the quest for the quiet life

I don't consider myself a very busy person - the type who's always running here and there with a to do list as long as one's leg - but somehow the days are flying by and all I manage to get done are the "mandatory" things - you know like cooking, cleaning, working, commuting. Blerg!
By the time it's time to relax, I'm out cold in bed.

Wouldn't it be nice if all you had to worry about was keeping your fort standing while sipping tea on a lazy afternoon?

One day, one day soon.

Maybe.

flowers in a jar

The prospect of planning a wedding seems nigh impossible to me. There are so many things to do, to choose, to plan, to buy...
While I have no specific ideas regarding most of the bigger wedding-related aspects, one thing I have picked out - centerpieces. And everytime I mention this to anyone, I get a reactions ranging from slight derision to outward disgust. Some people think mason jars are destined solely for practicality.
I , as so many others (unfortunately, no one in my immediate entourage), see the potential for great things. Pray tell, how are these arrangements not gorgeous?

While it may not be the choice centerpiece for many people, you can't deny that these are quite charming.

To all you naysayers - friends, family: Not so crazy with my mason jars,am I?

unwind

I've suddenly become utterly obsessed with Muskoka chairs, or Adirondack chairs - whichever you prefer, same thing, anyway.
They remind me of calm beaches, quaint porches and breezy summer nights.
I love the sense of serenity this picture evokes. I'd love to be sitting in one of those chairs with a fruity drink and a good book.

But I'd also settle this lovely house with its equally lovely porch - although, I don't know if I'm sold on the yellow...

The only thing missing here? My chairs, of course.

Just mentally add one picture to the other and you pretty damn close to my dream home. One version of it, anyway.

causing a kerfuffle

A big stink is going on about this Rolling Stones cover. Too racy? I say nay! I think it's completely fitting.
What do y'all think?

the old with the new

I might need a laptop, but I want a typewriter. Obviously, I have no need for a typewriter, but I can always create one should I so choose.

I just think it would make a welcome addition to my already-vintage-laden home. So, for *anyone* out there who might one day desire to get me a wonderful gift - you know who you are - take note.

finito

After some years of faithful service, my laptop has met its sad and inevitable end. Luckily, my hard drive seems intact, I just need to find a way to extract all my oh-so-valuable data... you know, music and stuff.

The silver lining here is that I get to shop for a new laptop! I've been admiring HP's imprint line. The Champagne one is my favourite, though the Biscotti and Black Cherry are pretty damn nice, too.

the soundtrack of my life

Shine On - Eric Bibb
I love, love, LOVE this song. No matter how shitty I might be feeling, it puts me in a happy-happy mood.

Hope it brightens your day!

office space

I'm finding it ridiculously difficult to sit at my computer desk; my theory is that our office is too dark and my desk area is too cramped.
The mess of wires that go to and fro my laptop make it quite a challenge to turn my work space into the place I need to love, considering all the time I can spend in it.
Let me tell you, typing on this battered old couch just ain't cutting it.
If I could manage something that remotely looks reminiscent of these, I might be happy

From the looks of it, I should start by painting the room white...

lounge fly vintage lunch boxes

A very good friend of mine (and her boyfriend) has the uncanny ability to find some of the coolest things ever made. Among her collection; this very nostalgic lunch box I came across a whole collection of these lunch boxes at Old Navy today
I checked out the website and, unfortunately, not all the lunch boxes are listed on their website, but I still discovered a panoply of fun stuff! I especially enjoy the Crowded Teeth line.
If you like what you see here, there is a website for Crowded Teeth. The designer is on hiatus, but there's still fun to be had.
But back to the original topic - vintage lunch boxes - here's the one I picked out for myself

I saw it and it instantly brought back a rush of childhood memories. Do you remember this ad?

CRAZY over...

Nautical bags.

{gap tote}

I realize this is reminiscent of this post, but the this nautical look is still on my list - probably will be for a while.

getting back into the swing of things

It's been quite a while, hasn't it?

It seems I have a hard time sticking to a particular task for a really long time, and that's one thing I'd love to change. So let's give it another go. I might have a short attention span, but I'm no quitter. So after my long and impromptu hiatus, Crazy B is back!
