wound, meet salt

I liked, nay loved, my bike. It had true sentimental value and was super vintage-cool. Now, as you may know, it is gone.
Yes, I'm still bitter about it.
Today, as I was making my rounds of the blogosphere, I found this post on sfgirlbybay.

Yes, mine had a good 40 years on this one... and was rusty and a little bit broken and heavier than my car. But it was mine. I had a comfy, vintage bike and now I don't, and after reading this post I want one more, and can't really afford it right now.
bummer

my forehead is melting

Ok, remember a while ago when I was talking about the heat wave and how wonderful it was... well, as you might know, it's round 2: hotter, stickier and deadlier than ever. I am currently in the living room, literally stuck to my leather couch and unable to find the will or strength to get up and make myself something to eat - I'm starving by the way. I'm so bored, but I can't stand to do anything. It's just too bloody hot!

Too add to my discomfort, I just got bangs. The worst possible time to get bangs! which adds to my reluctance to brave the sweltering heat of the car to get to somewhere air conditioned. I either look like a little boy and push them back or I leave them down at the risk of melting my face off.
It's like getting a new toy when you're a kid, but not being allowed to play with it.
But I guess it's not so bad. I mean, it's not like I'm at any risk of dying of heat stroke or dehydration... which reminds, I should get myself a drink of water.

that was low

To whoever stole my 40-year-old, rickety, broken bicycle: you are a big, big jerk. I really can't believe someone crept into the small alley behind my apartment, broke my lock and stole, STOLE! the bicycle that my mom use to ride around on when she lived on Nun's Island, that I remember sitting on the back of when I was a toddler, the bike that became more than just a means of transportation, but a family heirloom...
Ok, maybe the heirloom thing is going a little far.
But that makes me no less upset about this.
I love antiques, and that one was one of a kind.

If you see this bike, chances are it's mine...because no one else would have kept it this long!

i am canadian!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

a rainy day off

Bonne St-Jean!!!

miss you

Someone help us understand
Who ordered this disgusting
Arrangement, time and the end
I don't want to hear who walked
On water, because the hallways are empty
And the clocks tick

I still miss you

wake up!!!

I really need a pick-me-up, and just looking at this gives me a tiny coffee buzz...

uninspired

I've been off in the land of worry and anxiety lately, making me consequently unable to concentrate on much of anything other than the woe that is me, and let's face it, no one wants to hear about that. I've lost sight of the little things, the happier, funner things. I have to stop stressing over things like the "future" and try to enjoy life now. Cheesy? Yes, but true nonetheless.
I saw this picture the other day in one of the stores of the Point-Claire Village - so pretty there, by the way - and it made me smile.

I mean, how can life not be good with a cat like this?

and a boyfriend who walks around department stores like this?

...yeah, life is good

can i live here? (the less virtual version)

So you guys know which website I want to live in (sfgirlbybay), and now I've found the store I would like to call home.
This may be old news for most of you, but Pottery Barn is awesome. Everything is so spend-all-my-savings, max-out-my-credit-card worthy. Well ok, everything may be too strong a word - I like a mix of styles - but there are some things that I just adore!
On my little jaunt to Toronto I came across a Pottery Barn, which are desperately lacking in Quebec, and I fell in love with this duvet cover. It's thick, heavy and rough, which might not seem to add up to a great duvet cover, but I think it looks incredibly comfy-cozy!

Is it wrong that I want to get engaged just so I can register at Pottery Barn and add this to my list?
Don't worry, I wouldn't just add that to my list. There are a great many other things I would love to own.

These great "drink dispensers" have the advantage of not only being a fun summer... umm... accessory, but they would be totally useful at my rustic yet elegant wedding I plan on having sometime during this lifetime.

...sigh

saturday's listography - the belated version

Sneaky Saturday! It just came and went without even giving me a heads up. Oh well, I'm sure you'll all get over it somehow.

So for yesteday's listography, I'm gonna go with something that's one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place: my procrastination problem. Not only do I put off the things I have to do, but also and especially things I want to do.

I don't like this and I would like it to stop. I thought maybe if I had this little project, I could document my progress through these various hobbies I'd like to try, I would stick to them. All this also depended on me not putting off writing this blog, which hasn't happened yet - yay me!

What I did end up doing though was to put off writing about this. Change is hard, people!

So for this week's listography: a list of the things I've been putting off

  1. learning how to knit
  2. figuring out how to use my dad's old Nikon
  3. taking up drawing again
  4. making a terrarium
  5. making a collage poster board
  6. riding my bike on some kind of regular basis
  7. learning to sew
Have a good weekend - what's left of it, at least.
